An exploration in the idea of how we impact our surroundings, and how in turn, they impact us creating imprints on our beings that are abstracted, subdued, and inevitably become a part of our bodies.
I was focused on creating two separate products- furniture and apparel, that can exist as independant pieces, but when put together are able to speak to each other. I intended to cumulate my interests as an artist and designer, creating pieces that fulfill a function and spark a conversation. 
Starting with the idea of imprinting on skin, the project developed from a sculptural performance to a piece of functional art that still retained my original intentions.

This is by far the largest project I have worked on till date, with me breaking up the process by ideation, design, and production. Each step was heavily considered in a way that would maximise its value and flow into the next step. I began by finalising the form of the furniture, which moved from a simple chair to a ground-level chaise, which would itself act like a canvas for the clay and the body. This led to me developing the clay imagery I wanted, each of which represents an abstracted snapshot of nature. Simultaneously, I was creating models for the apparel, drafting patterns which were essentially simple, with the details coming through the wet moulding of the clay imagery. I did many tests with samples of leather, to see what thickness, pressure, and details come through best.

The naturally developing and semi exploratory process resulted in interesting final results, with pieces that exist in a realm between what we could use everyday and what we would see in a museum.

In a full circle, I returned to the original inspiration of skin imprinting. Several people lent their bodies as a canvas, taking the abstracted images directly onto themselves in a way that allowed themselves to exist as the intermediary between the furniture and fashion. Created to mimic the ocean meeting the shore, this piece focuses on the interaction and unity of various elements- the sand and the sea, furniture and fashion, and positive and negative space. I wanted to be able to push the boundaries between these elements, adding an aspect of tranquility to the overall object.


This dress was created with hand-dyed rings of chennile fabric and mesh, and was placed on a simple pine stool, which stands 2 feet above the ground.


The process included a lot of planning, hours of experimentation with the saturation of dyes on the fabric and creating a simple, functional, and elegant stool. With a final diameter just over 10 feet long, this project taught me how to creatively solve problems on the go, to work with material constraints, and how to better attach my own thoughts and ideas into my work.

An investigation into wooden turning, creating volumes by turning wood on the lathe. I was interested in using the streamlined process while keeping the texture and details of the wood. I was also interested in the connections between blocks of wood, and the patterns that created when turned.

		<description>Garden Tool Redesign


This project was to reinvent a gardening fork for a user suffering from Osteoarthritis. 
I intended to create a tool to help people with one of the world’s most common diseases, to participate in one of the most popular pasttimes, especially for the elderly, 2019

The initial phase of research involved empathy tests and reasearch into arthritis, including taping up my finger joints to identify difficulties the users could face analyzing garden tools currently on the market, finding areas where they can improve for these users.

Using clay and rapid prototyping, I experimented with form, creating numerous rough solutions for the handle. I also tried several heads, and finalised on one that would allow the user to reach smaller places with less effort and strain.

By consulting a orthopedic specialist and a hand therapist, I was able to narrow down my final form.


I carved the tool out of Maple, and attached a bent metal head that I spraypainted. The final form was made to emulate organic bodies and leaping movements found in nature, especially that of a grasshopper .

The RISD Museum is an internationally renownedart museum distinguished by its relationship to RISD—
one of the world’s top colleges of art and design.
Established in 1877 as part of a vibrant creative
community, the RISD Museum stewards works of art representing diverse cultures from ancient times
to the present.

					
This redesign of the museum’s identity has two
missions to accomplish. Firstly, it strives to add an
element of fun to the museum, which plays off the colourful, modern interior aesthetic. Secondly,
it is important to me to connect the museum back
to the school, a connection which i feel like has
lost its strength through the years. these simple and
bright shapes represent new and global ideas, which definately stands out alone, but is meant to be viewed together,&#38;nbsp;2020

Using box pleats, I saw an opportunity to improve the standard mask, as it would be easier to talk and breathe, as well as automatically adjust to the user’s face.
